There are several things that can make the consequences for victims of a terrorist crime more severe. One of these is a lack of information.

The information on brottsoffermyndigheten.se/terrorism has been compiled because the victims of terrorist crimes, and those who receive and treat them, are entitled to clear information. It is the result of a government commission the Swedish Crime Victim Authority received following a report (Ds 2018:22) on whether Sweden could live up to the crime victim provisions in the Terrorism Directive. The report included a proposal that the Swedish Crime Victim Authority review and improve its information for victims of terrorism.

This information includes general information about the right to help, support and protection that victims of terrorism and their families have under the Terrorism Directive.

The commission has been carried out in consultation with a number of government agencies, organisations and other actors.
